Thank You to Facebook Friends after Emilee’s Funeral

February 5, 2017

This is a post I wrote on facebook:

Thank you. Your posts are beautiful. Some of you are making it extremely difficult for me to eat and read these at the same time. I am trying to watch the salt in my diet, and tears in my food…well, you get the picture.

Emilee was a warrior to the very end. I know she is soaring with wings well earned.

This was not a fair fight, but she stood up to it with a dignity I am proud to have stood beside.
My heart aches (and the tears just keep coming) , but I want you to know that your kind words are like a sponge for my tears.

Her final moments were peaceful, and I had the privilege of having my head rest on her heart. I told her I would be all right (I lied), and I heard her last breath (I corrected my typo which read, I “heart” her last breath……well…that, too).

My dear sweet, sweet Emilee…. No more torture, no more insults to your precious body. May your soul soar with your beautiful wings, finally home with all the other beautiful souls who have welcomed you with their embrace.

I love you. My heart is torn, aching is insufficient to describe it, but somehow I will find strength in the courage you demonstrated, and in the kind words of all those whose hearts you have touched.
